This 11X14 oil painting on canvas won Best of Show at the TriCounty Art Show 2015 in Oakhurst, California. The judge loved the light and feeling of expectancy. I painted it from a photo I took while on vacation in Pennsylavania last summer. I loved the old, craggy buildings, the yellow brick, and the feeling that the truck was waiting for a load, on its way to a busy day.
Mary Beth Harrison became an artist sitting at her childhood kitchen table, drawing dinosaurs and Dr. Suess characters with her siblings. The joy she felt creating art as a child lay dormant in the busy adult years but was rediscovered as her nest became empty! She loves combining plein air oil painting, photography, and studio work to create vibrant works of art that depict the stories of people, events, and moments to remember in the Sierra Nevada foothills.
